China is rapidly becoming a global leader in AI technology. In a new report released by the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organization, China has filed six times more generative artificial intelligence patents than the United States, or 38,000 GenAI inventions between 2014-2023. In early July, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution put forward by China calling for stronger international cooperation on artificial intelligence. China emphasized the need for all UN member states, no matter how big or small, to enjoy equal opportunities in the design, development, and the deployment of AI. CGTN’s Jody Jacobs reports.
