UN hopes technology can slow rapid climate change

The 2015 Paris Agreement set an ambitious goal of limiting a global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The United Nation’s World Meteorological Organization warns that effort is slipping away.

There’s now an 80 percent chance the annual average global temperature will exceed that level in the next five years.

But the agency points out new technologies, including artificial intelligence, could make a difference.
