New York congestion pricing takes a toll on some Chinatown residents

After almost two decades since the idea was first proposed – congestion pricing – a controversial vehicle toll, was implemented earlier this month in New York City. The $9 peak period fee will impact most private passenger vehicles traveling within the city’s designated Central Business District. Commercial vehicles will pay even more – up to nearly $22 – and taxis and ride-hailing services are also affected.
