Brazil joins OPEC+

Just nine months ahead of the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference or COP30, Brazil has joined OPEC+, an alliance of major oil-exporting nations, reinforcing the country’s position as a global oil player. The move coincides with a push to expand oil drilling into the embattled Amazon region and has drawn harsh criticism from environmental groups who claim Brazil cannot have it both ways.
