China has sent 750 million yuan ($120 million) to aid West African countries in the fight against Ebola, which has killed nearly 5,000 people so far.
China has sent four rounds of humanitarian aid to Ebola-stricken areas in Western Africa. A commission of public health experts and medical workers will soon be sent to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea — the three countries at the heart of the crisis.
China’s People’s Liberation Army will also set up a treatment center in Liberia. The Chinese Foreign Ministry says it is the first facility of its kind to be constructed in West Africa and run by a foreign country.
