As the 17th BRICS Summit approaches in Rio de Janeiro this July, the bloc’s relevance in global affairs continues to grow. Originally composed of Brazil, Russia, India and China, then expanded to include South Africa — and now with six more members — the group is positioning itself as a powerful voice for the Global South.
