Diego Laje

Diego Laje is an anchor for CGTN America. He has reported extensively across Asia and Latin America, covering economic transformation, political shifts and global diplomacy from some of the world’s most dynamic regions. Laje began his international career reporting from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later moved through major assignments across Southeast Asia, China and the wider Asia-Pacific.

He previously worked for CNN as a correspondent and bureau chief, contributing to award-winning coverage on global affairs. His reporting has been recognized with an Emmy Award and a Royal Television Society Award. In addition to his anchoring work, Laje wrote analysis for SIGNAL Media, focusing on defense, emerging technologies and global strategy. He produced in-depth coverage on trade policy, financial markets and development across Latin America and Asia for Al Jazeera business and The Washington Post. Laje is a fully bilingual on-air talent, having anchored in Spanish as well for LN+ in his native Argentina, contributing to a nomination for the country’s top broadcast award.

He majored in political science at the University of St. Andrews’. His academic background includes graduate studies in journalism at the University of Hong Kong and comparative law at the University of Oxford. Laje has interviewed global leaders, innovators and policymakers on the front lines of change around the world.
