Sally Ayhan

Sally Ayhan is an anchor for CGTN America based in Washington D.C.  

She comes to CGTN with over 13 years’ experience in television and news.  Her career as a foreign correspondent began in Istanbul where she covered global news for TRT World, including the Iranian elections, the refugee crisis, the war in Syria and Brexit.  

Since 2016, Sally has been based in Washington D.C., covering foreign policy, U.S. politics and social issues. She has covered two U.S. elections, reported extensively on the coronavirus pandemic, the crisis on the southern border and the Black Lives Matter movement. 

Ayhan has also produced and presented documentaries on the anti-vaccine movement, gun crime, race relations and immigration for TRT World, S4C and the BBC.  

Prior to her international career, Sally worked as an anchor and reporter for the Nine Network in Australia.  She began her career at The Weather Channel.   

Sally is originally from Australia, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in media and sociology from La Trobe University.  She moved to London to complete a Masters in International Politics, specializing in Middle East studies, before travelling to Istanbul to work as a foreign correspondent.  

Sally is married and has two sons.
