Wang Guan is a TV host, senior journalist, scholar, writer, and a World Economic Forum Global Young Leader. He hosts Leaders Talk and The Hub with Wang Guan on CCTV and CGTN, under China Media Group.
A founding fellow of the Taihe Institute—one of China’s leading think tanks—he authored the critically acclaimed book Manufacturing the China Narrative: How the West Got China Wrong and What China Can Do to Better Explain Itself.
From 2011 to 2019, Wang served as CCTV’s Chief U.S. Correspondent based in Washington, D.C., where he covered the White House, the State Department, China-U.S. relations, and three U.S. presidential elections. He has conducted interviews with numerous world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Brazilian President Lula, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, former U.S. Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and John Kerry, and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
Wang began his journalism career at the Associated Press Beijing bureau in 2007 before joining CMG, where he reported from nearly all of China’s 34 provinces to break significant stories. He holds a master’s degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, a bachelor’s degree in international journalism from Communication University of China, and a diploma in sustainability strategies from Stanford University. With four million followers on social media, Wang is one of the most followed Chinese news anchors in international affairs and has appeared on international media outlets, including the BBC, PBS, VOA, RT, Financial Times, and France 24.
