Tropical storm Neoguri hit Japan’s main southern island after being downgraded from a typhoon, but the damage is still severe. CCTV’s Terrence Terashima has the latest from Tokyo.
After dumping heavy rain on the southern island of Okinawa, Neoguri knocked out power and killed at least 32 people.
Although downgraded form a typhoon Neoguri to a tropical storm after losing strength, it toppled trees, flooded cars and bent railings in Okinawa. According to the Okinawa government, it was the heaviest rainfall in half a century.
Neoguri is forecast to hit Kyushu island on Thursday, then possibly hit the major cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.
