Argentina’s government is no closer to resolving its debt crisis. This is after the finance minister took his case for bringing all of the country’s debt back under Argentine jurisdiction to parliament Wednesday.
The government aims to pass a bill creating a new account in Argentina to deposit future debt repayments. This would sidestep a U.S. court ruling by Judge Thomas Griesa, that orders Argentina to pay the holdouts in full.
The government hopes to wrap up this debate swiftly and push forward the new legislation, because the next debt repayment is due at the end of September.
