Ukrainians fear for their future as winter approaches

World Today

The United Nations says more than 400,000 people have been displaced by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Unofficial estimates suggest that number could be much higher. However, many Ukrainians are about to face another adversary: the weather.

The shelling continues in eastern Ukraine despite a cease-fire that has been in place for more than a month. The war has left people with limited access to basic supplies, leaving them to wonder if they have survived the fighting only to succumb to the below-freezing temperatures.
