Chinese overseas investments now focus on non-financial firms

A Canadian energy company, France’s Club Med and a giant US cinema chain are just three of the foreign businesses that Chinese companies have been snapping up, but going global is not always easy. CCTV’s Martina Fuchs has more:

  • The Ministry of Commerce says China’s outbound investment by non-financial firms hit $89.8 billion in the first 11 months of 2014.
  • The government said that it will simplify currency rules and increase credit support for Chinese companies investing overseas.
