Violence in Mexico prompts gender alerts

World Today

18-year-old Mariana Elizabeth Yaz has been missing since September 2014. Guadalupe Reyes says her daughter is a victim of gender violence in Mexico.
The State of Mexico – where Reyes lives – and the central state of Morelos, have declared gender alerts because of the high rate of violent acts against women. More than 17,000 women have been killed since 2005. An equal number have simply disappeared. CCTV’s Franc Contreras filed this report from Tecamac, Mexico.
