In Germany, police have used water cannon at a far-right wing protest. And more than a thousand Danes and Swedes have tried to pass through temporary border check points without passports.
CCTV America’s Guy Henderson reports from Copenhagen.
“There must be more creative solutions than this – this is just an act of crisis to close down the borders,” Swedish protester and reverend Lisa Vinsandsen said.
The focus of the dissent is identity checks at Copenhagen airport before the Swedish border. It means the majority of migrants and refugees cannot reach Sweden to claim asylum there, as few carry passports.
At an emergency EU meeting in Brussels, Denmark and Sweden agreed to remove these border checks as soon as possible. But first they want the flow of refugees to slow down significantly. And there’s no clear sign of that happening.
