China’s tourism market experiences a big boom for the Spring Festival holiday.

Chinese tourists have made 344 million domestic trips during the Spring Festival holiday, a 14 percent increase from last year. According to a report by Ctrip, a travel website, Chinese tourists are expected to spend 100 billion yuan (about $14.5 billion) in total over the week.
A record 6.15 million trips were made by Chinese mainland tourists to overseas destinations, an increase of seven percent from last year. About 374,000 trips were organized by travel agencies, a 2.5 percent increase.
The National Tourism Administration also reported growth from individual and high-end travelers and said that in addition to first-tier and coastal cities, inland cities – such as those in the Guangxi , Zhuang Autonomous Region became important source markets for China’s outbound tourism industry.
Experts predict more overseas trips will be made in 2017, a four percent increase from a year ago.
