A driverless monorail transit system is in the final phase of testing in Yinchuan City in northwest China.
It was developed by new energy vehicle maker BYD and telecom company Huawei.
“Yun Gui”, or “Cloud Track” is the first driverless straddle-type monorail transit system in China.
The train speed can reach up to 80 kph (50 mph).
It uses several new technologies, including automatically detecting malfunctions and the flow of passengers.
Facial recognition enables people to enter the station easily, without a card or cash.
The system is expected to be ready for trial runs later this year.
