Nearly one year after the deadly Lion Air crash, Indonesian investigators have released the final report in a briefing held for family members of the victims.

CGTN’s Silkina Ahluwalia reports.

According to family members who attended the briefing, a mechanical flaw was attributed as one of the main factors of the crash.

Anton Sahadi attended that briefing. He’s been seeking justice for two of his cousins who were on board that flight.

He said other factors include lack of communication and education regarding the MCAS, which malfunctioned just 13 minutes after take-off.

Latief Nurbana also lost his son in the crash. Just like all of the family members, he wants clear answers and said Boeing should prioritize safety above economic factors.

The 737 MAX was officially grounded globally on March 13, following a second crash in Ethiopia, less than six months after the Lion Air incident.

Indonesian investigators are expected to release the final report to the public on Oct. 25.
