As in many countries, the COVID-I9 pandemic ​in Brazil hit ​its Black population ​much harder than its White citizens.​

Many researchers and activist groups ​say this is yet another reflection of racism and inequality at play. ​And that racial divide is serving as a compelling backdrop – as Brazil celebrates Black Awareness all this month.
