U.S. GDP slips for another quarter

The U.S. economy was plunged into greater uncertainty on Wednesday when new data showed the economy contracted in the first six months of the year.

Back-to-back quarterly contractions are the typical definition of a recession.

But like much else in the U.S. even that’s being contested by those who point to strong labor demand and low unemployment.
