Kuliang families reconnect friendships by exploring history of Guling

One of the earliest examples of people-to-people exchanges between China and the U.S. can be found in Guling – a resort area in suburbs of Fuzhou – a city in southeast China’s Fujian province.

More than a century ago, a community of American expatriates moved there, and made many Chinese friends.

When American families wanted to visit the place that their relatives once called home, they had trouble finding Guling until they discovered it went by a different name.

In July, the families gathered in the U.S. state of Maine for a reunion.
