It’s been 157 years since slavery was outlawed in America.

But slavery in the form of “involuntary servitude” is back on the ballot in five U.S. states this election season.

Proponents of the measures argue prison inmates continue to be treated like property, like slaves, today and they want that changed. CGTN’s Hendrik Sybrandy reports.
