COP15: Challenges to secure a ‘Paris’-style agreement for nature

Delegates from around 200 countries were continuing their discussions on Thursday to find a new deal on protecting biodiversity after a stark warning from the head of the United Nations.

The COP15 conference in Canada, led by China, is trying to forge a deal for biodiversity that is legally-binding like The Paris Agreement on climate change.

But on just its second day, familiar rifts have emerged over how the benefits of any agreement are shared.
