Brazil launches investigation into genocide of Yanomami Indigenous peoples

Brazil’s justice minister has opened a genocide investigation — into the failures that led to the dire conditions faced by its Indigenous Yanomami people.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva visited the jungle region where they live among staggering levels of malnutrition and disease – and put the blame squarely on his predecessor.
