It’s taken many years but Denver, Colorado, is finally acknowledging and coming to terms with an anti-Chinese riot that decimated its vibrant Chinatown neighborhood back in the 19th century.

Among other actions, the city has formally apologized for the event.

Now a mural honoring Denver’s Chinese heritage is going up very near where its Chinatown once stood.
