Brazil launches digital currency to fund Universal Basic Income programs

A small city that is a left-wing stronghold in the state of Rio de Janeiro has developed its own digital currency to fund what is reportedly one of the largest Universal Basic Income programs in the world.

CGTN’s Lucrecia Franco visited the town that is tackling poverty and supporting businesses with an experiment designed to reduce inequality and foster economic growth.
