Uruguay struggling with devastating drought

World Today

Uruguay is suffering the effects of its worst drought in 74 years. The water supply in and around the capital of Montevideo is running out of fresh drinking water for millions of people.

The water shortages are so severe that it prompted officials to declare a state of emergency in June.

The government has fast-tracked a plan to cope with the situation, while the city has water supplies for days, not months.
