Evanston becomes first city to pay slavery reparations to Black residents in the U.S

The issue of reparations to compensate Black Americans for slavery and other discriminatory policies has gained momentum in recent years.

U.S. President Joe Biden has given his support to study the issue. But for one U.S. city, promises have now been turned into payments, in what is being seen a test run for other cities and communities across the country.
