Ecuador’s presidential election to go to runoff in October

In Ecuador, Sunday’s presidential election failed to produce an outright winner, forcing an October runoff. A protege of Ecuador’s former leftist president Rafael Correa will face the son of one of the country’s richest men. Two former lawmakers, leftist Luisa Gonzalez and conservative businessman Daniel Noboa finished in first and second place, respectively, in the first round of voting.
