Sudden layoffs amid declining unemployment in U.S.

Job gains in the U.S. occurred in professional and business services, health care, retail trade, and social assistance, and the national unemployment rate now sits at 3.7 percent. It’s the longest stretch that rate has been below 4 percent in 50 years. 

At the same time, there’s been a rash of layoffs lately, particularly in the tech industry. What’s going on?
