A new report by the World Resources Institute shows that global action to reach stated deforestation goals is falling short. Despite some pockets of advancement, notably in the Amazon, the new data shows global forests remain under tremendous pressure.

Forest cover losses in Bolivia, Laos, and Nicaragua were highlighted by the researchers as among the most dramatic while the positive highlights came from Colombia with a 49% reduction in 2023 and Brazil with 36%.
