U.S. Senators question aviation regulator’s oversight of Boeing safety

The head of the U.S. aviation watchdog was under pressure on Tuesday, September 24, to explain why Boeing isn’t complying with new safety and training standards whose lapses contributed to a string of disasters.

Michael Whitaker faced lawmakers for a second day as part of an inquiry into the troubled aircraft manufacturer.

The committee has unearthed ongoing problems at Boeing despite widespread condemnation of its production processes.
