Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro is facing formal charges for attempting a coup after his election loss back in 2022. The country’s prosecutor-general announced an indictment against Bolsonaro and 33 other individuals on Tuesday, Feb. 18, that also outlined a host of other alleged crimes.

Bolsonaro was previously convicted of abusing his power and casting doubt on the country’s election system, barring him from running for public office again until 2030.

CGTN’s Paulo Cabral has more on these latest charges.
