On International Children’s Day, June 1, countries focus attention on the rights and well-being of children around the world. In Haiti – the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere – the plight of children is particularly dire. Surrounded by lawlessness and gang violence, meeting even their basic needs for food, shelter and education is a challenge. Our correspondent Harold Isaac has more from Port-au-Prince.
