Talks aimed at ending tariff standoff on hold as new round of tariffs take effect

The United States said it must confront China over its trade practices and China says it has no choice but to retaliate.

The two countries are ready to impose a new round of tariffs and that is on top of similar tariffs that have already taken effect.
