The 20th CPC Central Committee recently adopted a resolution on further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization. It is described as a wide-ranging blueprint that will guide China’s reforms and opening-up for years to come. The communique also draws a clear path for China’s continuous high-quality development. Economic reform is a priority as China works to achieve a high-standard socialist economy by 2035.
To understand how far China has come, we must first look back to the year 1978. The Third Plenum of the 11th CPC Central Committee in 1978 laid the groundwork for economic reform and opening-up policies that has been a model for China’s success. It’s been remarkable to watch, some call it the largest global reduction in inequality in modern history.
