In Richmond, Virginia, demonstrators staged a “rolling rally,” driving their cars around the city center.

Gatherings of more than 10 people are currently banned in Virginia, so protestors drove their cars around the state capitol building instead.

The organizers called the rally, “Reopen Virginia,” and they’re demanding an end to the state’s stay-at-home order, in place since March.

The Democratic Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, who is also a physician, called protests like these “selfish.”

By not practicing social distancing, he says they could be putting healthcare workers at risk.

Around 10,000 cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Virginia, although the number of daily new infections has been falling in recent days.

The state’s governor, though, insists it’s still too early to reopen.
