Egypt is emerging as a major player in the Global South. We spoke to Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, and discussed Egypt’s role at the UN, its relationship with China, and much more.
And what does an ever-growing refugee crisis mean for the world?
According to the United Nations, nearly 110 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide. Factors such as conflict, climate change and economic instability have only worsened the refugee crisis. The UN’s latest count finds there are more than 35 million refugees around the world.
We also interviewed Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, who explained what her organization is doing to prevent further disasters.

As people fled brutal fighting in Sudan, thousands lost contact with their husbands, sons, daughters.
