More than 2000 government leaders, senior officials, and business executives are on the tropical island of Hainan for the annual Boao Forum.
It comes as China recently announced record growth of 18.3 percent for the first quarter as it rebounds from the coronavirus pandemic.
In his video address, President Xi Jinping called for greater global economic cooperation while saying no nation should dictate global rules or interfere in other countries.
