A large crowd gathered at sunrise in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square to witness the flag-raising ceremony.
The Guard of Honor of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army conducted the ceremony, followed by the national anthem played by the military band. National Day is celebrated in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. This is also a very big week for tourism. Millions are expected to travel over the holiday to reunite with loved ones.
