As the crisis in Ukraine continues, the U.S., the European Union and other Western nations have placed sanctions on Russia.

It’s in response to President Vladimir Putin’s recognition of two self-proclaimed republics in Eastern Ukraine, ​and his order to deploy troops there. The United Nations General Assembly called for an urgent meeting to discuss the crisis.
