From efforts to eradicate world hunger to building affordable housing, we discuss why sustainable development matters. 

As part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, member countries are working to complete 17 goals. They include creating sustainable cities, combating climate change, and eliminating hunger and poverty. 

Maimunah Mohd Sharif is the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program known as UN Habitat. We discussed the importance of sustainable development.

We also talked about the impact of climate change. 2023 was the hottest summer on record. The climate crisis has contributed to deadly wildfires, flooding and droughts. It’s forced thousands of people from their homes and is threatening food security. President of the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development, Alvaro Lario, talked about what’s at stake.
