Policy makers will gather in Washington next week for the annual IMF – World Bank spring meetings. The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, says the meetings come at a sensitive time for the world economy.
Joining the discussion:
- Qu Qiang ie the Assistant Director of the International Monetary Institute at China’s Renmin University.
- Anthony Chan is the former Chief Economist for JP Morgan Chase and Company.
- Klisman Murati is the Managing Director of Pareto Economics and Creator of the Global Power Index.
- Otaviano Canuto is a Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South and a former Vice President and Executive Director at the World Bank.
Industrial policy, through which governments support individual sectors, is on the rise. But new IMF research shows that fiscal policies supporting the diffusion of innovation and technology more broadly can yield better results.
