The Israeli Defense Forces are carrying out a raid the West Bank city of Jenin in what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describes as a “significant” military operation.
The Palestinian Health Authority says at least nine Palestinian were killed with dozens more injured. The action comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced he’s lifting sanctions against Israeli settlers allegedly responsible for deadly violence in the West Bank.
On Monday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his concerns about illegal West Bank settlements and worsening clashes.
Three Israeli hostages and 90 Palestinian prisoners, all women and children, were released on Sunday as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas. Hamas says four more female hostages will be released this weekend.
