The People’s Republic of China was founded on October 1^st 1949.  And this week it marked the 70^th anniversary of that historic occasion.

Chinese President Xi Jinping joined thousands in Tiananmen Square for a massive celebration. It included a large military parade with 15,000 personnel taking part. On display were some of China’s new and advanced weapons including the Dongfeng-41 nuclear missile.

More than 100,000 people took part in the festivities as China remembered its past and looked to the future.
