The annual session of the UN General Assembly – also called UNGA – officially got under way Tuesday at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
World leaders and government representatives from around the globe will be taking part as they address the high-level “General Debate” later this month.
For a preview of what we can expect at this year’s UNGA, we have this report from CGTN’s John Terrett in New York.
- Kingsley Moghalu is a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
- Anton Fedyashin is a professor of history at American University.
- Sourabh Gupta is a Senior Asia-Pacific policy specialist at the Institute for China-America Studies.
As preparations intensify for the High-Level week of the #UNGA, @antonioguterres will be travelling to the @AfClimateSummit in Kenya, the @ASEAN-UN Summit in Indonesia, the @g20org Summit in India, and the Summit of the @cubag77 and China in Cuba. pic.twitter.com/Mr7oA96iQr
