The United States has submitted a draft resolution before the United Nations Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all hostages kidnapped by Hamas.
It comes after a declaration by the UN this week of imminent famine in parts of Gaza and the Biden administration’s concerns over Israel’s plans to launch a ground invasion in Rafah where more than a million Palestinians are sheltering.
Joining the discussion:
- Laetitia Courtois is a Permanent Observer to the United Nations and Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
- Daniel Seidemann is a lawyer and expert on Jerusalem and the Founder of the Israeli non-governmental organization Terrestrial Jerusalem.
- Khalil Jahshan is Palestinian American political analyst and Executive Director of the Arab Center Washington DC.
