The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were back on the agenda this week in New York.

The High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development is an opportunity to take stock of the goals intended to alleviate poverty and reduce inequality. In its latest update, the UN says only 17% of the targets are on track as the 2030 deadline approaches.

We begin with this report from correspondent Jody Jacobs.

To discuss:

  • Mohammed Mahmoud is a water management and climate adaptation expert.
  • Michael K. Dorsey heads Arizona State University’s Walton Sustainability Solutions Service.
  • Changhua Wu is Chair of the Asia-Pacific Water Forum’s Governing Council.
  • Astra Bonini is the Senior Sustainable Development Officer with the UN’s Division for Sustainable Development Goals.
