Foreign governments and carmakers are reeling after U.S. President Donald Trump announced this week a 25% tariff on all cars coming into the United States. It’s the latest move in a litany of tariffs imposed by the United States on China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union and could have major consequences for the global economy.

The Trump administration’s trade policies are top of mind for government and business leaders attending the Boao Forum for Asia in southern China.

On Thursday, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a keynote speech calling for strengthening cooperation, fostering globalization, and safeguarding the free trade system.
