The Israeli government says at least 50 attacks against its citizens in recent months were launched from the West Bank city of Jenin. Fast forward to the early hours of Monday, when more than 1,000 Israeli troops – backed by drones, tanks and missiles – raided the city’s refugee camp.

The stated goal – to root out the Palestinian militant infrastructure. When it was over, at least a dozen Palestinians and one Israeli soldier were killed with homes, cars and streets left damaged or destroyed.

Israel’s Prime Minister warning of more raids to come.
